Saginaw Precision Announcement Prompts a Thread-Capacity Test
On September 28, Salient Motion announced Saginaw Precision, its Saginaw, Michigan division for precision ball screws and roller screws used in high-performance actuators.
Ball screws serve motion transmission, unlike conventional joining fasteners that join parts together.
The company describes thread grinding, software, conventional machine tools and repurposed equipment as the production base for aerospace, defence, robotics and other applications.
Salient Motion says custom actuator prototype cycles have fallen to about eight weeks and forecasts SP-1 capacity of about 50,000 ball screws per year by 2027. The source is a company statement. Qualified capacity, sales, customer programmes and standard delivery performance are not independently evidenced.
A machine list is not enough for buyers of thread-critical components. They need thread measurement data, process-capability evidence, material and heat-treatment controls, qualifications and capacity confirmation matched to a part family.
