Mini-PV Fixing Starts with the Base Material

Torque-Expo reported on September 25 that fischer offers mechanical and chemical fixing systems for mini solar-PV installations.

Panel choice does not determine the fixing selection. Fischer's guidance says the fixing choice must match the base material, system weight and size, manufacturer instructions, wind loads and snow loads.

For concrete, fischer names bolt anchors in stainless steel. For masonry, it points to injection systems. For load-bearing timber, it lists wood screws. For outdoor use, fischer advises stainless-steel screws and steel components.

This is manufacturer guidance, not project approval. The report does not establish that one anchor, screw or bracket fits every balcony, wall or roof. Designers and buyers need the substrate data, mounting geometry, panel load case, local requirements and system-maker instructions before they place an order.

For fastener teams, the lesson is direct: a hardware list cannot prove a connection. The specification needs to confirm the base material and load case before purchase.
